ABOUT THE TEAM
ABOUT THE DOTTED i TEAM
You want to make a big impact in this world. We want to help!
The community needs the support your organization provides now more than ever, and it is our mission to provide you with the support you need in finding and securing grants!
Our mission is to find and secure grant funding for nonprofits so they can make meaningful impacts and create lasting change.
Our vision is a world where nonprofit leaders have more time to focus on what’s important while we find and secure the grant money they need to operate.
She’s got an energy that makes others feel empowered, and you can usually find her at the front of the line leading towards change – which is exactly why she founded The Dotted i. Through this grant writing firm, she’s able to help nonprofits pave the way to a better future. Having the opportunity to work alongside some of the most courageous and powerful nonprofit leaders (she can’t wait to meet the rest of you out there!), she gets satisfaction that her kids will grow up in a healthier community.
Bre has been Grant Professionally Certified through the Grant Professional Certification Institute since 2011 and she has been writing successful grant applications since 2008. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Human Development, Family Consumer Sciences from Montana State University. Her strengths lie in crafting a budget that tells a story, tugging at the heartstrings of funders, and finding those hidden grants that are gems. She’s multi-passionate so her clients’ passions become hers too – making it easy for her to use that fuel to earn those grant dollars!
When Bre isn’t at her computer crafting up a compelling grant narrative, she’s adventuring with her daughters and husband. She loves hiking to waterfalls, traveling to new places, sipping on a good iced coffee or kombucha, or eating her favorite food – pho.
Bachelor of Science in Child Development from California State University
Abby is endlessly curious about the power of language and how the work of words can bring about meaningful change. She first combined this curiosity with her love for nonprofit work in 2018 when she became a founding member of Crescent Montana—a Bozeman-based nonprofit working to combat period poverty in Montana. At Crescent, she started to learn about the importance of finding fitting funding opportunities to achieving one’s goals. Now, she applies these lessons and more to her desire to make the world a better place, one grant application at a time.
Abby’s background rests in American Studies, Hispanic Studies, and Native American Studies, which gives her the invaluable tools to explore problems with an interdisciplinary and complex lens. Seeking connection, understanding, and change through collaboration and creativity are her jam. She thrives in environments that allow for curiosity and the chance to help and give back to others whenever possible (including volunteering at Haven, working at the World Language Initiative’s BELLA summer camp, and continuing to pour her heart into Crescent Montana).
Abby grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota with a family that taught her to love to play outside—skiing, hiking, camping, picnicking, general romping in the snow, you name it. She also enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family. Much to the chagrin of her bank account, she loves to travel whenever and wherever possible. She’s trying, but mostly failing, to improve her yoga and journaling habits.
Writing, in many forms, has been an integral part of Alanna’s life since she was a child. She can still vividly remember reading the first scary story she wrote out loud to her 4th grade class. With an adoration for words and language, she excels at telling our clients’ stories in a way that connects to the hearts of funders.
Alanna graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Environmental Studies and a Spanish double major in 2015 and subsequently spent two years as an AmeriCorps service member developing a sustainability plan for Glacier National Park. She then worked in the nonprofit sector for four years, and as a result, she understands the importance of matching each individual nonprofits’ vision, mission, and big picture goals with the right grant. Her talent as a writer coupled with her passion for tangible change lead her to The Dotted i in March of 2022.
Born, raised, and currently living in Billings, Montana, Alanna thrives under the Big Sky. While she has been fortunate enough to travel around the world, nothing will beat Montana and the countless dirt trails left to wander down. You are most likely to catch her hanging out with her border collie/aussie mix, Winnie, a Stephen King book dog eared on her lap, a travel cribbage board displaying her dominant win on the table, and an iced coffee in her hand with Charley Crockett playing in the background.
From an early age, Katherine knew her goal in life was to help people, bouncing around the idea of growing up to be a teacher, a nurse, or a counselor. She combined this passion for helping others with her love of writing, and now helps clients reach their goals and make a difference in the community.
Katherine has a background in early childhood education and youth development. Katherine began writing grants in 2018 while working at a Boys & Girls Club. It was there she saw firsthand the impact that words can have on creating positive change. Katherine furthered her knowledge of nonprofit management and grant writing during her time at the Boys & Girls Club, playing a key role in expanding the organization from a singular Club to four Clubs across the Arkansas River Valley through grant writing and fundraising. Passionate about conveying the mission of nonprofits through compelling and meaningful stories, her love of grant writing and helping those in need brought her to The Dotted i in 2022.
Katherine grew up in Northwest Arkansas, exploring the natural beauty of the Ozarks. Her family keeps her busy, with she and her husband tag-teaming practices, games, and playdates for their two sons. She loves all things fall – camping, hiking, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and football (although she’s slowly coming around to being a baseball mom after a couple of years). In her free time, you can catch her reading one of the many books on her “to be read” list, listening to her favorite Spotify playlists, or trying her hand at a new baking recipe she found.
