Montessori Island School (MIS), a 501 (3) (c) non-profit, was established in 2003 and began as a preschool program with just 7 children. MIS has grown substantially from its humble beginnings, and now has a student body of more than 100 children enrolled in the infant, toddler, preschool and kindergarten programs. MIS offers two healthy snacks and a freshly prepared lunch to all students that attend the school. There was a great need for a commercial stove/oven to accommodate the needs of cooking for over 100 children so grant applications were submitted to purchase a new stove/oven and refrigerator. Funding activities included, but were not limited to: grant research; application preparation and submission; meetings with funders; grant reporting; and, preparing closeout.
